They were trafficked for forced labor, brought to neighboring countries to beg, tied to debt bondage, and subjected to working cond itions not suitable for children. At a very young age, they have suffered from exploitation and abuse within and across borders. They felt sad and angry. According to the 20 Cambodian trafficked children who attended the Workshop on Recovery and Reintegration Process, their sadness and anger vanished when they returned home to be with their family, friends, and relatives. They released the wounded feelings once they were freed from the exploitative condition and their traffickers were arrested. |

Inter-Agency Effort Brings Home 20 Filipino Victims of Human Trafficking
Last May 18, twenty (20) Filipino male trafficked victims arrived at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), Clark, Philippines from Kuching, Malaysia. They were welcomed by representatives from the Office of the Vice President, Department of Justice Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Severino H. Gana, Bureau of Immigration Officers, social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III and National Capital Region (NCR), and Asia Against Child Trafficking (ASIA ACTs) Regional Coordinator Amihan V. Abueva. |

Indonesia ACT Strengthens its Network and the National Campaign against Child Trafficking |

On June 21 – 23, Indonesia against Child Trafficking (Indonesia ACT), the network campaigning against child trafficking in Indonesia, convened its members for their 1th General Assembly at Wisma PGI Guest House, Jakarta.
The three-day assembly resulted in the formulation of specific measures to ensure he continuous operation of Indonesia ACT’s Secretariat in case of a funding gap. The network also agreed on the practical steps to take in case one or all elected residium resigns. These mechanisms are put in place to strengthen the network and he campaign against child trafficking in Indonesia. |

Manila, Philippines – On February 26, 2011, the Public Affairs Ministry of Our Lady of Remedies Parish invited the Asia ACTs Secretariat to their public forum entitled "Human Trafficking sa Loob at Labas ng Pilipinas, Ano ang Tunay na Kalagayan?" (Domestic and Cross-Border Human Trafficking, What is the Real Situation?)
About 100 parishioners gathered at the Remedios Jubilee Mission Center for the lecture-discussion about the human trafficking situation in the Philippines, its factors and effects. More importantly, the participants were eager to learn more about how they can help protect their community, especially the women and children, from such crime. |
